Gossip: Real Madrid Midfielder Linked To Manchester United

Manchester United Interested In Real Madrid Play Maker

According to reports in Spain, Manchester United are interested in James Rodriguez.

The Colombian midfielder has struggled in his second season for game time under Rafael Benitez with several media outlets linking hiim with a move away from the Bernabeu.

Jose Luis Sanchez, a Spanish journalist, claimed on Tuesday that United are “very interested” in the 24-year-old.

United chief, Ed Woodward has made a habit of chasing high-profile footballers, with a belief at Old Trafford and the club’s Mayfair offices that huge outlays on superstar players can be recouped by commercial gains.

With James likely to cost the Red Devils much of the €80million that Real Madrid spent on him 18 months ago, the club would be banking on an upturn in merchandising much as they did on signing Rodriguez’s countryman Falcao.

Rafael Benitez may not be in charge much longer at the Bernabeu, if the media reports are anything to be believed – meaning Rodriguez would likely be happy to remain in the Spanish capital until the end of his contract in 2020.
