Wenger Fingers At Referee For Arsenal’s Defeat
Arsene Wenger has accused Southampton’s physical approach and also blamed the referee, John Moss after the Gunners were defeated at St. Mary’s on boxing day.
Wenger instead of looking at how his players collapsed under pressure from a vibrant, hungry Saints side in this shock at St Mary’s, he is once again accusing others for his sides poor performance and not taking advantage of Leicester City’s defeat to Liverpool.
Wenger was devastated after his side’s title charge was spectacularly derailed on the south coast. He moaned: “Southampton made the game very physical and we lost too many challenges. That’s why we lost. The decisions were all against us, but what can I do about it?
He added, “We were unlucky with the first three goals. Shane Long made the game very physical, he got away with too much.”
A brace by Shane Long and a beauty from Cuco Martina and Jose Fonte gave a struggling Southampton side a superb victory.
If the Gunners are to end their painful 12-year wait to be crowned champions, these are really the sort of matches they need to win.
Verdict: Southampton Played Too Physical, Hence The Defeat - Wenger
