Veria FC insists they will not be in Ghana on Janaury 3, 2016 to play a friendly match against Asante Kotoko.
The Greek club have reportedly agreed to travel to Ghana to play the dethroned Premier League champions early next year as part of activities to mark their 80th anniversary.
The planned friendly against Veria has suffered several setbacks with the recent being the postponement of the game from the originally set date of November 15 due to the Black Stars’ 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros.
Organizers of the match, Pacific Football Ghana Limited earlier in the week claimed it had secured an agreement to have the Greek club fly down to Ghana for the friendly on January 3.
But the Communications Director of Veria FC Mohammed Beloudi says the club has no plans of making the trip to Ghana at the reported date of January 3 especially with the side engaged in official assignments.
“No, no. It is not true this,” he told Boss FM.
“We are planning to come to Ghana but not something official.
“In January it is difficult for us because we have official matches so we are planning to come in February.
“We are discussing with the club to find a new date but in January it is very difficult.”
Veria FC have a league match against PAS Giannina on January 2 and then will also take on Iraklis in a Cup match two days later.
