"I Would Have Called An Old Man In Ghana Premier League"

Shabab Al-Sahel Ghanaian winger Douglas Nkrumah insists that had he been plying his trade in the Ghana Premier League, he would have been forced into retirement.

The former Hearts of Oak player is in top form with his new Club in the Lebanese League banging in 6 goals in 11 League matches played in the first round.

He played in all matches and assisted in seven goals in the league which is presently on break.

But the player insists that had he still been playing in the Ghana Premier League, Ghanaian fans would have forced him into retirement with the ‘old man’ tag.

“Here, they don’t really care if your are as old as methuselah, so far as you can deliver on the field of play, they are okay with you.”

“But that is not the same in the Ghana Premier League back home. Fans always want to see a good performance from players and if the said player maybe dips in form or is not able to get a good day in a match he will be called names.”

“Some of these comments gets to us as players and sometimes demoralizes us. I know for sure that if I were still in Ghana, I would have retired because I would have been tagged an ‘old man’.”

For Douglas, the Ghana premier League can be exciting once again if fans renew their minds about players who have been in the game for a very long time.
