There is a peace in my heart,
surpassing my understanding
but every day I can feel . . .
it growing and expanding.
It is a gift Jesus gave me,
the day I came to believe
and the closer I get to Him
the more of it I receive.
It’s not the kind of peace I feel,
when everything is going well
but I sense it’s from knowing
where the Holy Spirit dwells.
It’s a peace void of bitterness,
resentment and hostility
this calmness that I feel . . .
has no room for animosity.
There is a peace in my heart,
giving me understanding . . .
and the more I seek God’s will
the more it keeps expanding!
