Ghanaian club Obuasi Ashgold took a one goal advantage over Algerian club, MO Bejaia in the pairs CAF champions league first leg clash at the Len Clay Stadium.
The Ghanaian club started the brightest with striker, Isaac Amoah recording Ashgold’s first effort at goal. Ashgold dominated and created numerous chances but were denied by MO Bejaia number 1 goalkeeper, Mohammed Jabli who pulled off some excellent saves.
MO Bejaia had their one-off chances but failed to capitalise and get the much needed away goal with the Ashgold defenders displaying a superb shield for goal keeper, Robert Dabou.
The “Aboakese” started the second half slowly in comparison to the first but momentum finally gathered pace with the lively Isaac Amoah hitting the first shot at goal before the first and only goal was netted by makeshift defender, Tijani Joshua who scored in the 61st minute.
The Miners created more chances as the quest to find the needed second goal went on but the attacking trio of Issac Amoah, Emmanuel Osei and Emmanuel Osei Baffour wasted the opportunities that came Ashgold’s way.
Mo Bejaia will be the happiest of the two going into the second leg as Ghanaian club’s have a woeful record in North Africa.
Ashgold Pip MO Bejaia
