Inter Allies midfielder, Emmanuel Nettey has stated that it is early days yet for anybody to think that his outfit can lift the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League.
The ‘Eleven is to One’ defeated Highly rated Aduana Stars 2-0 in their match day one fixture at the Tema Sports stadium on Sunday courtesy goals from Ropapa Mensah and Isaac Twum.
The Tema based side have earned the praise of many football fans and pundits for their performance against Aduana and have been tipped by many to lift the coveted Ghanaian top flight trophy under the guidance of experience trainer Herbert Addo.
However, midfielder Emmanuel Nettey has down played the expectations of fans, stating that their primary objective is to improve on their 6th place finish last season.
Speaking exclusively to SportsCrusader.com, the 25-year old said, ” I think the scores [against Aduana] could have been very convincing if we had taken our second half chances. But all the same we wanted the win and we got it. [We can now go back to] Training. (Laughs) and hopefully liberty professionals”.
“It’s still early days yet so cant say anything about that but we hope to improve upon our position last season. After the team has achieved its target the personal once will follow naturally”, he added.
Reacting to predictions that Inter Allies can win the GPL, Emmanuel Nettey said, “Wow that’s very nice to hear. Let’s wait till the end and see. Everyone of the 16 teams aim is to win the ultimate so we will all work towards that”.
Inter Allies’ next game of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League will be at the Dansoman Carle Reindhorf Park where they will face Regional rivals Liberty Professionals.
