Two-time African Cup of Nations winner, Hervé Renard has been appointed as the new Morocco head coach, according to media reports.
The French man who won has won Africa’s top football competition with Zambia and Ivory Coast was been out of job since his sacking by French Ligue 1 outfit Lille last November.
Reports say the 47-year-old has been appointed by the Moroccan Football Federation and will replace Baddou Zaki at the helm of the Atlas Lions.
Winner of the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia in 2012 and with Côte d’Ivoire in 2015, Renard was linked with several African national teams including Cameroon and Nigeria.
Morocco are currently joint top of Group F of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Cape Verde, who enjoy a better goal difference.
Renard’s first assignment with Morocco will be a double header against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in March 2016.
