The Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Madam Fredrica Mensah has reiterated that, until the Ghana Amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers pay an amount of Gh 1000, her outfit cannot help them out in their quest to secure the Theodosia Oko Hokey stadium as their camping base ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifiers.
According to her, although the Sports Authority is generally mandated to promote Sports in the country, the Association is cash-trapped at the minute and therefore are not in the position to bare the cost for the Black Bombers to secure the facility as a camping base.
Speaking in an interview, Madam Fredrica Mensah said, “The NSA is generally mandated to promote Sports in the country but the issue we have right now is that we are going through some financial challenges”
“The Black Bombers went to the Hokey Pitch to prepare for their qualifiers but unfortunately, there is no electricity there so we need money to buy fuel to power the generator so that they can have access to lighting.
“At the same time there are other things like toiletries and detergents that will make sure that their stay there is healthy.
“Thats why we asked them to give us an initial deposit of 1000 so that we can make the place the way they require it to be for them to have a sound camping.
“What we are asking them is simple, if they cant pay the amount we are asking them to pay, we cannot help them out” she added.
The Ghana Olympic Boxing team are currently using the Hathramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium as their camping base.
