Owusu Bempah Rallies Support For Hearts Ahead of Season Opener

Accra Hearts of Oak defender, Joseph Owusu Bempah has called on the club’s fans to rally behind the team ahead of their Opening Ghana Premier League fixture with New Edubiase United on Sunday February 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Accra based club has in recent years endured a torrid time both on and off the pitch which has led to the supporters growing increasingly impatient regarding.

The 19-time Ghanaian top flight Champions have failed to win any major silver ware since their league triumph in 2008 and supporters of the club on countless occasions have registered their displeasure by boycotting the club’s league games due to the club’s poor show.

But deputy captain Owusu Bempah believes if the fans turn up in their numbers in their opening game, it will spur the side on to a victorious start.

“We thank the fans very well as each and every day they have been supporting us. In all our friendly games played at the Accra Sports Stadium, they’ve shown massive support even though we have struggled in the league over the years” He said.

He added that, “We are calling for their support ahead of our first game with New Edubiase and I believe that will give us a very good atmosphere for the start of the season,” Bempah noted after the club’s friendly victory over Dreams FC on Sunday”.
