Under Fire Asante Kotoko Head Coach David Duncan has expressed his frustration about his side’s goal scoring prowess following their goalless draw with Ashantigold at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The result leaves the ‘Porcupine Warriors’ winless after three games with only two points out of a maximum nine.
The record Ghanaian Champions enjoyed large portions of the possession of the game but failed to break down a resolute Ashgold backline and Duncan feels poor judgment and erratic finishing on the part of his players was their major bane.
Speaking in his post match interview with the media, the former Haerts of Oak trainer said, “We made a few incursions but we still looking erratic in front of goal. In situations you expect players to exercise a bit of composure and patience, they got jittery.
“I must admit there were not few clear cut chances but the few we got were not used well.
“On the whole, we didn’t get the result we want but the boys raised their game as compared to Medeama. I hope this will not be a flash in the pan.”
Duncan also praised his opponent Ashgold that they executed their game plan well and went home with the point they craved for.
“In the last couple of games, we seem to have an edge over them but they knew what was at stake especially the fact that if we had won, we would been level on points with them.
“They gave it their all. They were satisfied with the points they earned judging by their setup.”, he said.
Kotoko’s next game will be a difficult away trip to Berekum to face Berekum Chelsea who are undefeated at home in their last 39 outings. The last team that recorded a victory at the Golden City Park against Chelsea is Amidaus Professionals in the 2012/2013 season.
