Former Kotoko Forward Tips Embattled Reds To Bounce Back

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Ben Acheampong has tipped his former side to bounce back after a dreadful start to the 2016 domestic season.

The agile centre forward tasked the playing staff to put their disastrous start to the season behind them and make a real assault on the championship trophy at the end of the season.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko endured its worst start to a campaign in over four decades with two points from the opening four matches on the local scene.

Ben Acheampong, who graced the Baba Yara sports stadium in his days with the 24 times league champions however charged the newly assembled side to ink their names into the history books of Kotoko by overturning their dreadful start to the season with a convincing win over Sekondi Hasaacas on day five.

The speedy centre forward equally urged the vociferous fans to continue supporting the players until they find that missing piece in the team.

Speaking to sportscrusader on the current state of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ben Acheampong revealed having sleepless nights with the current form of his darling club.

“The players need to develop a tough mind to overcome the poor run of results at the start of the league.

“We are talking of Kumasi Asante Kotoko here, where even wins cannot guarantee you safety in the side.

“I am confident the boys will bounce back but they need to do it very fast, possibly at home to Sekondi Hasaacas.

“The Kotoko family will have to develop some patience and continue to support the boys if they are to arres that poor start to the season”, Acheampong told sports crusader exclusively.

The prolific forward then admitted having sleepless night anytime he monitors the Ghanaian domestic top flight.

“I have been dreaming of this team even from afar. As a fan and a former player of the side, I just can’t do without Kotoko in my mind.

The league is still wide open and I believe we can still come back to make a real chase for the league”, Acheampong concluded.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko remains winless after four matches into the 2016 GPL but could get their season back on track with a convincing victory at home to Sekondi Hasaacas on Friday night at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
