Defending champions, AshantiGold SC will be at home to Berekum Chelsea on Saturday as the Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day three fixtures are cleared this weekend.
The Miners will look to make it two wins out of two at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi after their opening day 2-1 success over Medeama SC a couple of weeks ago.
Coach Bashir Hayford’s side will also look to put the disappointment of being knocked out of the CAF Champions League behind them by restoring some hope in their fans.
This will be their second GPL game of the season as they do have an outstanding match-day two clash with Asante Kotoko to honour after this.
Chelsea have lost their last five away games in the domestic league dating back to last season, and will be eager to knock off that effect with a good result in Saturday’s game.
That will mean getting their first ever win over the Miners at Obuasi and that won’t come easy as AshGold are very formidable at home as they have proved in the seven games played between the two (winning three and drawing four) at the Len Clay Stadium.
Chelsea hold the overall head-to-head record though with four wins from 14 games with seven draws. The Miners have not lost a home game since a 16 February, 2014 0-2 loss to Bechem United.
