Head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, Avram Grant has praised the OS Mambas of Mozambique after holding his side to a goal-less draw in their AFCON 2017 Qualifier second leg in Maputo on Sunday.
Ghana went into the game as the overwhelming favourite to snatch all three points but the Mozambicans who had already lost the first leg of the tie 3-1 in Accra last Thursday stood their ground to record their first point of the qualifying campaign.
Speaking at the Post match media interaction, Black Stars trainer, Avram Grant said Mozambique have a lot of potential.
“There is a lot of potential [in their team]. They play football. They try to play good football and they were very discipline today. They tried to close our key players and they didn’t let us lot of space. Any chance that we created, we had to do it the hard way”, the former Chelsea and West Ham boss stated.
“They are a good team and they have a good future”, he added.
On the difference in performances of Mozambique in the first leg and second leg of the encounter, Grant noted that although the OS Mambas were very good in Accra last Thursday, their defensive organization better in Maputo and that gave the Black Stars a tough time especially in trying to create chances.
Ghana still lead group H of the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers with 10 points with Mozambique lying bottom of the group with a single point after 4 matches.
