Black Stars of Ghana coach, Avram Grant says he will make a late decision on the fitness of trio for the second leg of the Afcon 2017 qualifier against Mozambique.
The Black Stars are Maputo, Mozambique for the second leg of the 2017 Afcon qualifier against Mozambique on Sunday.
But the team is hit with injuries. Asamoah Gyan and Mubarak Wakaso did not travel due to various degrees of injuries they suffered.
Frank Acheampong was stretched off during recess, whilst John Boye could not complete the entire duration of the game in Thursday.
Christian Atsu also complained of slight pains to Avram Grant. The Israeli will rely on what the doctors of the team will say prior to the match against the OS Mambas.
But first, he explained why he went with 21 players.
“i left them (Asamoah Gyan and Wakaso behind) because of injuries, we don’t want to risk. They wanted to play but they can’t and I don’t want to take injured players to a match,” Avram Grant told the Communication Director of the Ghana FA, Ibrahim Saani Daara.
“I always want players who can play and even with that, we took three players with question mark; we don’t know whether we can play. The players that were injured we need to assess them before making a decision.
“The medical team is doing everything and we need to wait to see how they will train and hope that they will be fit for tomorrow; if not all of them but a few of them.”he said.
