Muntari Handed A Two-Game Ban In Saudi

Al Ittihad’s Ghanaian midfielder, Sulley Muntari has been handed a two-match ban and a fine for physically attacking an opponent in a Saudi cup match against Al Wahda last Tuesday.

The incident put yet another black mark on the reputation of the former Inter and AC Milan Star, who was famously expelled from Ghana’s 2014 World Cup camp after attacking a team official.

Saudi Arabian football federation officials moved quickly to punish Muntari for his assault on an opponent in the Saudi Champions Cup last 16 clash.

The Ghanaian has been banned for two matches and ordered to pay a huge fine for his indiscretion, which played out on live television throughout the Arab region.

Muntari will miss Saturday’s league match against Al Wahda and the Saudi Champions Cup quarterfinal against Al Hazm.

The 31-year was involved in a scuffle with a Wahda player and was cautioned 16 minutes into the game. Video evidence reveals he hit his counterpart to the ground, drawing widespread condemnation.
