Ghana’s only remaining representative in Africa’s Inter-Club Competition, Medeama SC have issued a statement thanking all Ghanaians for the massive support they received in their victory against Egyptian side Al Ittihad last Sunday.
The statement, which was signed by James Essilfie, the Chief Executive Officer of the club also thanked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the country’s security apparatus for the respective roles they played in ensuring that the club’s mission was successfully accomplished.

The Mauves and Yellow have been drawn against another North African side Al-Ahly Shendi form Sudan in the next round of the CAF Confedrations Cup with the game slated for the weekend of 8th to 10th April.
The Full Statement Reads:
Medeama would like to thank all stakeholders who helped in diverse ways to ensure the team progressed to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club wishes to thank the Ghana FA, sponsors, security apparatus, the Ghanaian people and supporters in general for their unwavering support during the crucial return leg at the Sekondi stadium on Sunday.
We are extremely grateful for the level of cooperation and love shown which helped us to defeat Al Ittihad 2-0 at home to advance to the next stage.
Indeed we’re counting on all stakeholders again for a similar show of support during our next assignment against Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendi in April.
As Ghana’s only surviving team in Africa inter-club competition, we are hopeful of carrying the flag of the country high with an objective of making the group stage our immediate priority.
The club will continue to rely on the cooperation and support of all major stakeholders in this collective agenda of putting Ghanaian club on the African map.
We know that the task ahead is humongous but we are confident of scaling the hurdle to make mother Ghana proud.
Signed
James Essilfie
