Thomas Abbey Eyes Continental Glory

Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Thormas Abbey has said a continental crown will restore the phobians to their glorious days.

The 23 year old talented winger tipped his side to steer the capital based Premier league heavy weight back to Champions league football in the near future.

Abbey rued their missed attempts at making it to the money zone of the CAF Confederation Cup last season but remains confident of ending their continental absence.

Hearts of Oak lifted the CAF Champions league in 2000 and followed that up with the confederation Cup four years later, but has since gone into continental wilderness.

Enterprising winger for the 20 times Ghanaian domestic championship however rallied the current crop of players to ink their names into the record books of the Oak family with a CAF glory in the immediate future.

“A good outing in the Championship league will bring back that fear factor into Hearts of Oak.

“We need to win either the Champions league or even the Confederation cup if we are to bring back smiles on the faces of our supporters.

“The current crop of players can however steer the club to that promised land.” Abbey told sports crusader.

The 20 times league champions have enjoyed a very start to the season with many pundits tipping them to end their 8 year wait for domestic championship.

The capital based side jointly leads the three week old 2016 GPL season with seven points from three games.
