We Weren"t Allowed to Travel - Polo

Former player of Black Stars Mohammed Polo has revealed to sportscrusader.com about how talented players where disallowed from travelling outside the country to play professional football during time.


National Footballers during the early 1970’s were considered national assets so their symbolic status made it difficult for them to travel outside even when big European clubs demanded their services with huge sums of money.


In an interview with sportscrusader.com the former player said “the government would not allow you to travel outside if you had the chance, all the passports of all national team players were with the government and you dare not request for your passport for any reason”.


The dribbling magician also made the revelation about how he had the opportunity to play for a team in United States of America but he was prevented due to the arrangement by the government.


Polo who is now concentrating on his academy also emphasized how fortunate this current crop of players are, because they can travel anytime they want wish is has affected the quality of players in the Ghana Premier League
