Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended their away winless streak with a victory over Dreams FC, at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday.
Promising youngster, Dauda Mohammed opened the scores within 10 seconds inn the game and that was enough to ensure the Porcupine Warriors resurgence continue.
Asante Kotoko hurried at the Dreams FC, when they passed, and after three touches, Mozart Adjetey picked the ball from his net. Dauda Mohammed rolled the ball to Obed Owusu. The striker pushed the ball onto the path of Amos Frimpong.
The skipper drove in a ferocious shot, which Mozart Adjetey failed to bring under control in his first attempt. He punched the ball on to the path of Dauda Mohammed who followed up,he made no mistake, stroking the ball into an empty net.
Dreams FC pushed Kotoko back, creating numerous chances, but lacked the cutting edge required to draw parity.
Kotoko’s backline of Edwin Tuffour and Ahmed Adams also made it difficult for Dreams FC. The few occasions they broke the resolute back line, they had Ernest Sowah who occupied the entire perimeter of his goal post saving the situation.
Emmanuel Hayford, Emmanuel Eli and Abdul Bashir all had chances to draw Dreams FC. Emmanuel Hayford from about 25 yards, Emmanuel Eli and Abdul Bashir all the 18-yard, but Ernest Sowah kept their efforts at bay.
Abdul Bashir simulated to win the referee’s sympathy after 34 minutes, however, he was booked by Ali Alhassan was closer to the action.
Kotoko held on to their slender lead into the dressing room for recess. Dreams were more of wounded lions in the second half, but Kotoko kept their shape and pounced on them at the slightest of opportunity.
The poured forward and defended as a unit. Dreams was the better of the two sides, but closed the spaces to give Dreams a way through. The league debutants kept heat at the goal mouth of Kotoko, but the Porcupine Warriors kept their bodies on the line to see off the game, ending their classless away run, while ending Dreams home dominance.
