Assistant coach of AshantiGold Sporting Club, Yakubu Mambo has revealed that the pressure to retain the Ghana Premier League (GPL), is the cause of the club’s problems.
The Miners have started poorly in this year’s league, winning only one of their first seven league matches. They were also knocked out of the MTN FA Cup by Division One side Asokwa Deportivo on Friday.
Pressure is on mounting on the technical team to produce results, and Yakubu Mambo has called on the fans to be calm and support the team as they look to turn things around.
“When you win the league, there is pressure on you to retain it and that’s what is on us now. I know at an appropriate time things will get better so the fans should exercise some patience for the club,” he told Metro FM in Kumasi.
AshantiGold won the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League (GPL) after going almost two decades without a league title.
