Thomas Partey La Liga Hopes Dashed By Levante

Spain based Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey saw his hopes of lifting the Premiera Liga trophy vanished at Levante.

The Atletico Madrid hotshot slumped to a last minute 2-1 defeat on the penultimate weekend of the Spanish La Liga season to end any slim chance of winning the trophy.

Atletico dropped into third place on the log trailing leaders FC Barcelona by three points ahead of the last round of action.

Diego Simeone and his charges were tied at the top of the log with Barcelona but a late strike from Guiseppe Rossi ended any mathematical chance of the Rojiblancos winning the domestic championship.

Fernando Torres shot the Champions League finalist into an early minute lead before goals from Victor Casedesus and Italian forward Guiseppe Rossi ended Atletico’ s La Liga hopes at the Cuidad de Valencia.

Real Madrid edged out Valencia to move into second place on the log but still trail their Catalan opponents by a point going into the last round of matches over the weekend.

Thormas Partey, who joined the Vicente Calderon side from Almeria, will have to put their hopes on the European Champions League when they take on regional neighbours Real Madrid in Milan later this month.
