CAF Confed Cup Play-off First Leg Review

The fixtures for the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Playoff round were honoured over the weekend across the continent and the games produced some interesting results.


Ghanaian side Medeama SC succumb to 3-1 defeat despite taking an early lead away at South African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.


The Mauves and Yellow took an early lead through Eric Kwakwa but the Brazilians fought back with 9 minutes to go with three goals in seven minutes to tilt the tie to their advantage.


Leonardo Castro, Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila scored for Sundowns.


Elsewhere, Algerian side MO Bejaiah were held to a goal-less draw at home to Esperance du Tunis.


Al-Ahli Tripoli also recorded a goal-less home draw with Misr Almaqasa in Libya while Stade Malien also produced a similar result at home to FUS Rabat Morocco.


A Ramadan Agab lone strike gave Al-Marreikh Omdurman a 1-0 lead over Kawkeb Marrakech.


In Tanzania, it was Young Africans who made full use of their home advantage, dispatching Sagrada Esperanca 2-0 with goals from Simon Msuwa and Antony Mateo.


D. R. Congo side To Mazembe also recorded a slim 1-0 win over Stade Gabesien in Lubumbashi with the lone strike coming from Jonathan Mpangi.
