Wa All Stars Refutes Referees Intimidation Claims

The Management of Wa All Stars FC has denied claims that it intimidates  match officials who are assigned to handle games involving their side against other Premier League Sides.

The disgruntled second placed Premiership campaigners have distanced themselves from the wrongly perceived notion being haboured against referees who are mandated to officiate thier matches.

A statement from the club said, “Management of the club will like to commend officials who execute the true laws of the game on the local scene for actually bringing sanity to the domestic championship”.

General Manager of the club, Seth Panwum, cited the lopsided decisions by referee Alex Nsiah in their away defeat to Bechem United as one of the several instances that match officials have handed against them in the season so far despite their strong showing in the league.

The emotionally charged General Manager urged officiating officials to abide by the rules of the game and let the players decide who wins the league.

The Referees Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) slapped Alex Nsiah with a six match ban for his one sided decisions in Bechem United ‘s 2-1 triumph over Wa All Stars which incited the football family to point accusing fingers at the Wa based club.

“We commended officials who handled our game against Techiman City even in defeat. We lost to a better side under fair and firm officiating at the Ohene Ameyaw Park on Sunday,” he said.

We don’t only complain when things go bad but also commend officials who give us fair playing ground on match days. We have no power to intimidate officials as a club. Don’t other clubs also make formal complaints when officiating go against them?”, Seth Panwum told reporters in Wa.

Wa All Stars are enjoying their best ever start to the top-flight league in Ghana since gaining promotion, and,, could cap a memorable season with the ultimate trophy at stake.
