David de Gea ready to quit Manchester United

David de Gea is ready to quit Manchester United this summer if Louis van Gaal stays as manager.

The Spain goalkeeper has grown disenchanted with life under the Dutchman, despite signing a new four-year contract at the start of the season. Sources at Old Trafford say De Gea, who is wanted by Real Madrid, will press to make the move happen.

It promises to be a major issue for United. De Gea has been their star player during a season that has seen them miss out on qualification for the Champions League.

And reports in Spain have claimed that Real are preparing to activate the 25-year-old shot-stopper’s £40million release clause which was written into his new deal last year.

According to Spanish daily AS, De Gea has a £40m clause in his contract which can be triggered before June 16 and the Spanish giants are weighing up a fresh bid.

The deadline means Real chief Florentino Perez has just under a month to wrap up a deal for the Spain international who he narrowly missed out on last summer.
