Ghana Premier league leaders Wa All Stars host regional neighbours Wa Rockets FC in the quarter finals of the 2016 MTN FA Cup.
The leaders return to action after a mid season break at home to the second tier side Wa Rockets Football club for a place in the semis of the coveted FA Cup.
Rockets limped past Asorkor Deportivo in the last 16 ties to extend the cup journey whiles Wa All Stars breezed into the quarters with a ruthless demolition of Wamanafo Mighty Royals.
Former Wa All Stars youth defender Isaac Bawa registered the only goal for Joseph Kwabena Fosu’s men at home to Deportivo to book their ticket to the quarters.
The GN Bank division one new comers however extended their inconsistent form in the league with 2 comical own goals from their centre backs in a 2-2 thriller with Berekum Arsenal ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wa All Stars.
JK Fosu and his charges can however draw inspiration from their away form with three straight wins going into the game, having been designated the ‘away’ side.
Wa All Stars on the other hand could not opted for a better time to host their ‘noisy ‘ neighbours with successive wins over Kumasi Asante kotoko and Berekum Chelsea.
The wa based Premier league table toppers eviscerated Mighty Royals 6-0 to atone for their shutout at home to Techiman City in the round of 32. A first half brace from Maxwell Baako added to Ismail Ganiu’s thundetbolt and an Ocran finish in a 4-0 lead before recess.
Further goals from the departed Nana Tei Horsu annd Iddrisu Muniru reflected the one sided nature of the tie in the last 16 stages.
Wa All Stars won the last friendly encounter between the sides by a solitary 1-0 but will be relying on their defensive solidarity to set up a potential destiny defining clash with kotoko in the semis, if the Reds keep their cool against Bechem United.
