The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) is proud to announce that Phoenix Life Assurance has agreed to partner the Federation for our maiden Media Seminar scheduled to take at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10am.
The seminar dubbed ‘PHOENIX LIFE WEIGHTLIFTING MEDIA SEMINAR’is aimed at bringing together Sports Journalists from the top Media Houses in and outside Accra to enlighten them on their role in and impact on sports development in the country, sports branding, and the Technical and Competition Rules/ Regulations (TCRR) in weightlifting.
Weightlifting has become one of the most-talked-about sporting disciplines in Ghana in recent times due to our performance in international games and the professional structures that are being put in place for a sustainable growth of the sport.
As a Federation, we are focused on accurate reportage and truthful dissemination of information on issues concerning the sport hence the seminar to educate the media.
Resource Persons for the event will be Dr. KwakuOfosu-Asare who is a patron of the GWF, a Veteran Journalist and Sports Broadcaster and currently a Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He will present a paper on the topic ‘The Impact of Ghanaian Sports Journalists on Sports Development in Ghana.’
Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the GWF, who holds an Executive MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana will also deliver a paper on ‘Sports Branding in Ghana-The Cricket and Weightlifting Experience.’
The final presenter will be Mr Husseini Akueteh Addy, the Secretary General of the GWF, an experienced Sports Administrator from the National Sports Authority (NSA) and has an International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) certificate in Anti-Doping and TCRR and he will make a presentation on Technical and Competition Rules/ Regulations in Weightlifting.
We have about 75 journalists from the leading media houses in and outside Accra, registered to participate in the seminar, which will be an annual event on GWF’s calendar.
The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr Vincent OppongAsamoah and Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr Joe Kpenge are expected to officially open the seminar.
