Accra Hearts of Oak striker Foovi Aguidi admits he has been off colour in the first round of the campaign but says he’s optimistic he will prove his worth when the second round kicks off.
The Togolese striker has not been able to replicate his splendid second half of the season performance of last year, which resulted in six goals. In the first round of this campaign, he has failed to score.
But Foovi revealed to the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News that we will see a better showing when the second round begins.
“I am not happy with myself and I know the fans too are not happy with the way things have gone for me in the first round,” he admitted.
“I personally expected to carry my form last season into the first round but things unfortunately did not go according to my plan.
“I have looked at a lot of things and I think I am learning from this bad patch. I am not happy I have not scored for the team in the league or FA Cup but I want to be able to get a goal in the second round.
“All I want is one goal and I think it will give me the confidence to score more. I do not want to talk too much but I will prefer to take my chances on the field of play,” he said.
“Last season’s second round was good for me and so I want to fight hard to make this season also a good one for myself and the fans of the club. I want to prove my worth to our fans again,” he promised.
Foovi has nine appearances in the league but he has only started two games and has come from the bench on seven occasions.
