Claudio Ranieri is close to clinching the £12million signing of Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy.
Mirror Sport revealed last month that the Foxes had moved for the 23-year-old holding midfielder, the man they wanted before landing N’Golo Kante last summer.
Chelsea are confident of beating Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of 25-year-old Kante. Mendy is seen by Leicester as his replacement.
Mendy has impressed at his Ligue 1 club, helping them to seal Europa League football next season.
With a year left on his contract, however, he is keen on a move to the Premier League.
