Nigeria Maul Honduras In Olympic Game Warm Up

Nigeria’s under-23 team, the Dream Team VI, on Monday came from a goal down to defeat Honduras 3-1 in their latest game at the Suwon Invitational tournament.

Honduras took the lead in the fifth minute through Alberth Elis and held on to the lead until the second half.

Azubuike Okechukwu equalised for the Dream Team VI in the 61st minute and went in front for the first time in the game 19 minutes from time.

Godwin Saviour scored from the penalty spot in the 69th minute after Ndifreke Effiong was fouled in the penalty area.

Saturday Erumiya added some gloss to the result when he netted in spectacular fashion from range in the 87th minute to complete a comprehensive victory.

The win represents a welcome relief for head coach Samson Siasia who suffered two losses in his opening two games of the tournament, against South Korea and Denmark.

The Suwon Invitational tournament is part of preparations for Nigeria’s under-23s for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.
