Players Must Stay Focused For Second Round Campaign - Sabahn Quaye

Accra Hearts of Oak Team Manager, Nii Sabahn Quaye has urged players of the club to focus on a strong second round when the Ghana Premier League (GPL) resumes later this month.

The team is currently on a one-week break, and, will return to training on Monday, 6 June at the Legon Ajax Park to continue with their preparations for the second round of the GPL.

The players were given the one-week break after the game with Dreams FC at Dawu last Sunday, as the first round of the GPL came to a close.

And Nii Sabahn Quaye says he expects to see the boys back in training fully refreshed after being given some days off to visit family and friends.

“We (Hearts of Oak) look to mount a serious assault on the GPL in the second round, and, I expect to see the hunger and determination to do that in the boys when they return to training,” Sabahn Quaye told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.

“The first round was not bad for us although we know we could have done better; we will look to correct our mistakes in the first round before the next round resumes, and, I am confident that we will go all the way for the title at the end of the competition”.

“This is the reason why I am urging the players and everybody involved to keep their focus on the job at hand in the second half of the season as there is some tough games to play in the competition”.

“We cannot afford to take things for granted in the second round if we are to go on to challenge for the GPL title this season, therefore, the boys must be ready and focused to fight for every point available when the league resumes,” the Team Manager said.

Hearts finished the first round of the campaign with 26 points from 15 games, and, sits in fourth position, two points behind the leaders Wa All Stars.

The second round of the GPL is expected to begin on the weekend of 25/26 June, with Hearts’ first game against Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
