PFAG Shocked Over Uriah Asante" Death

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG)  have expressed their sadness over the death of former Hearts of Oak midfielder Uriah Asante who passed away on Monday.


Asante, 24 was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Monday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead on arrival.


In a statement signed by it’s General Secretary Anthony Baffoe, the PFAG described Uriah Asante as ‘a gentleman with a huge talent’, describing his death as ‘sad’.


“Our offices and some of our members have been receiving calls from various people worldwide seeking to know the truth or otherwise of the sad news.


“Uriah was a gentleman with such a huge talent. It is so sad we have lost such a player at a this young age.


“Death of footballers especially through such tragic means is unbearable but we can only hope it never happens again.


“Our heart is with the family of Uriah in such difficult time and we can only ask them be strong,” The statemen read.


Uriah Asante was a member of Ghana’s Under 23 team that won the country’s first ever gold medal at the 2013 All African Games in Maputo.
