Manchester United flop Victor Valdes could be set for a quick return to Manchester ‒ by signing for City.
The former Barcelona stopper endured a miserable time at Old Trafford, making just two first-team appearances, and was eventually shipped out on loan to Standard Liege before being released this summer.
However, new City manager Pep Guardiola – who worked with Valdes at the Nou Camp – is thought to be interested in bringing him back to the north west.
The pair won Champions League and La Liga titles together with the Catalan giants and are known to be friends. Despite turning 34, Valdes would be seen as an ideal back-up for No 1, Joe Hart.
Hart’s current understudy, Willy Caballero, was signed by previous manager Manuel Pellegrini. And while City have made no plans to lose him, it would be no surprise to see the Argentine team up with his old boss once more should Pellegrini find a new club.
Caballero, 34, is also thought to be attracting interest from clubs in Spain.
City currently have a vacancy in the goalkeeping department after long-serving third-choice Richard Wright was released at the end of the season.
