Carlo Magali To Land In Accra For Showdown With ‘Game Boy’

Carlo “The Ferocious”  Magali (20-7-3, 10 KO’s) is expected to touch base in Accra on Wednesday ahead of his Friday showdown versus Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe (25-1, 12 KO’s) for Tagoe’s WBA International lightweight belt at the Accra Sports Stadium Sports Hall.

Tagoe will be making the second defense of his title.

“We are expecting Magali to arrive in Accra on Wednesday,” Alex Ntiamoah of Box Office Sports Promotions told Bukomboxingnews.com. “He will be coming with his team, everything has been put in place for them.”

Odds are stacked against the Filipino; he’ll be on enemy soil against a Tagoe who appears to be on the ascent since stopping Joebert Delos Reyes in four to claim the title in April 2015. Nevertheless, plans are in place to ensure that Magali is rested and prepared to meet the smooth Ghanaian on Friday.

“From the airport we will take them to the place where they will be lodging,” Ntiamoah continued. “And then on Thursday the weigh-in comes off at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of the Friday’s showdown.

”We want Ghanaians to fill the stands on Friday because the boxers on the card have promised to exhibit some great piece of boxing skills. The boxers on the bill are talented boxers and they have the needed skills to be world champions when given the chance,” he added.

The card, which is promoted by Baby Jet Promotions in conjunction with Box Office Sports Promotions, will feature a ten round co-main event between featherweight George “Red Tiger” Ashie (25-4-1, 18 KO’s) and Michael “One Bullet” Ansah (10-4-2, 7 KO’s).

Also on the card, Stephen Okine (12-12-1, 7 KO’s) will battle Dodzi Kemeh (17-1 15 KO’s) for the interim WBA Pan African welterweight belt, billed for ten rounds.

Isaac Sackey (16-0-1, 15 KO’s) will clash with Michael Barnor (15-8-2, 11 KO’s) for the national super bantamweight belt. In a bantamweight duel former Olympian Prince Dzanie (11-0, 9 KO’s) will test his strength against Felix Uzukwu (3-9, 3 KO’s).

Patrick Ayi (15-0 10 KO’s) will meet Edward Kambasi (4-5, 4 KO’s) in an eight-round featherweight contest.
