Medeama Hold Final Training Session

Medeama have completed their final training session ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Young Africans on Saturday.

Coach Prince Owusu took his troops through the paces at the 60,000 National stadium in Dar Es Salam.

The players were all smiles as they took to the pitch and demonstrated their readiness to cause a massive football earthquake on Saturday.

The game promises to be exciting as the two teams will chase for maximum points to get their respective campaigns back on the road.

Going into the Saturday fixture against the Mainland champions, Medeama are not out of the woods as well after picking just a single point from their opening two games.

The Yellow and Mauves are in search of their first victory after losing and drawing their opening two games.

They failed to make home advantage count after drawing blank against Algerian side MO Bejaia on match-day two.

Kick-off is 16:00 GMT (1pm Ghana time).

Medeama Coach Unhappy

Medeama Sporting Club coach Prince Owusu was unhappy with his side’s performance in their 3-1defeat to TP Mazembe in their CAF Confederation Cup Group stage on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellows started brightly and immediately took the lead through midfielder Malik Akowuah under five minutes into the game, but were unable to hold on their lead or get a draw from the game.

The defending CAF Champions League champions pilled pressure on the Ghanaians and drew parity courtesy of Rainford Kalaba before shooting themselves into the lead before half time.

The Zambian international sealed off a super game for TP Mazembe with a sumptuous strike to give them a 2-goal lead over the Tarkwa-based club.

And Prince Owusu is unhappy with his boys for being erratic.

“I think we went with our game plan- initially it went well but some things went wrong and you all watched it so i am not happy with the outcome of the game,” Owusu said after the game.

Medeama’s next game will be on June 29 at home to MO Bejaia.

I Have Not Sold My House - Parker

Medeama president Moses Armah has angrily reacted to claims he sold his plush house to fund his side’s CAF Confederation Cup trip to TP Mazembe as ‘preposterous, hare-brained and absurd’.

The ever-smiling and affable football owner is fuming with rage over the malicious reportage which was engineered by a section of the local media.

Some Ghanaian media outlets had claimed the business magnate had sold his plus house at Takoradi to fund the side’s trip to the Central African nation due to the club’s current financial situation.

But he has rubbished the reports, insisting they were fabricated to create a negative impression about the club.

“It’s totally ridiculous, absurd and reckless for anyone to make that claim without cross-checking the fact,” he fumed

“There are financial difficulties everywhere, but to sit at the comfort of your home and manufacture such a lie is unfortunate.

“I have not sold my house neither do I intend to do so.

“We have Goldfields Ghana Limited which has provided tremendous financial support to the club.

“They have been with us all the way and will continue to offer a hand of support to us.

He added: I’m struggling to understand the motive behind this reportage.

“But that’s the problem with some of our journalists in Ghana. They are only interested in manufacturing stories to occupy space. It’s just unfortunate.

The club has not denied reports of being overstretched financially but have never stated it’s in a state of comatose.

The two-time Ghanaian FA Cup holders will play as guest of the five-time African champions in their opening group A clash in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

T.P Mazembe will host Medeama over the weekend at Lubumbashi on an astroturf when the two sides faceoff at the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Coach Prince Yaw Owusu and his charges have pitched camp at Sogakope, where West African Football Academy have developed an astroturf pitch to put them in good shape ahead of the clash.

Medeama SC, despite facing financial challenges, have put them behind and are set to make a journey to DR Congo to make Ghana proud.

Medeama Appeal For Aid

Medeama SC has called on stakeholders to come to their aid as they seek to participate in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Mauve and Yellows are financially handicapped and their ability to participate in the competition hang by a thread.

The club earlier on Tuesday released a statement stating that they may withdraw from the CAF inter-club football competition due to financial constraints, and the president of the club, Moses Armah Parker has called for financial support.

“We find ourselves in financial difficulties due to the cost involved,” Mr. Parker began in an interview with Happy FM.

“We are supposed travel to Congo on Thursday, but as I speak we haven’t been able to raise money to purchase tickets for the trip,” he lamented.

“I am calling on all stakeholders to come to our aid,” he appealed.
