Sad News For Ghana"s Black Bombers As ...........

The National Amateur Boxing Team, the Black Bombers, have failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio, after a disappointing show in the AIBA African qualification held in Yaounde.

The Bombers sent nine boxers to the competition but failed to grab a single slot after the week long competition.

Azumah Mohammed  who was the only hope for the country lost his encounter with Kedache Zohir in the Welterweight division after Abdul Wahid Omar earlier in the day lost lost via unanimous decision to Mohammed Hamout of Morocco in the third-place fight-off .

The team is expected to depart from Yaounde tomorrow with the 17 man contingent which includes eight officials we will hopefully arrive at the Kotoka Airport the same day

No Team Doctor On Black Bombers Contingent To Cameroon

The National Amateur Boxing team, the Black Bombers, who are in Yaounde to participate in the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) African Olympic qualifier went there without a team doctor.

The 16 man contingent left the shores of Ghana without a doctor who would be responsible for the physical welfare of the boxers.

This is not a good precedent as Black Bombers are the only hope for Ghana, with regards to a  sizeable representation in the upcoming Rio Olympics.

In a interview with sportscrusader.com the Public Relation officer of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Madam Naa Darkwah said  “its very unfortunate the team traveled without a team doctor, but we have doctors in Yaounde to take care of  the team when the need arises”.

This unfortunate incident is  very disturbing, as the core aspect of managing a very promising team is being neglected by the stakeholders, which includes the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GBA.
