I Can"t Hurt My Lovely Fans - Eric Bekoe To Kotoko

Sekondi Hasaacas center forward, Eric Bekoe has rendered an unqualified apology to the fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the comments he made after his sides defeat in their recent league game in Kumasi.

The former Petrojet frontman, had an altercation with Kotoko head coach, David Duncan during their 1-0 loss at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday, and it is believed fans who witnessed what transpired are unhappy with their former player’s actions.

Eric Bekoe described Kotoko fans as lovely and he wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. He believes he reacted rudely before them because he could not control his emotions.

“This is football and you can’t stay in one club forever,” Bekoe said.

“If I did anything to hurt the fans, I am deeply sorry. But they all saw what happened before I reacted. It wasn’t my intention to react angrily before my lovely fans but it was due to what the coach did,” he added.

He has also apologized to David Duncan, saying “it was a misunderstanding from either me or him. These things are part of football, but he is matured, older than me and I have to accord him that respect”.

Hasaacas Played Against Referee - Bekoe

Sekondi Hasaacas striker, Eric Bekoe claim they played against the match day referee, Maxwell Hanson and not Kotoko.

Sekondi Hasaacas suffered their third defeat of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Friday night.

And Eric Bekoe, who reckoned he played very well tonight, says the referee was unfair to them.

“My performance was the best. I think we were rather playing against the referee and not the team; and I was so much surprised at the coach,” the former golden boot winner of the GPL told Super Sport.

Eric Bekoe also alleged that Kotoko head coach David Duncan called him and insulted for reason be knows nothing about.

“As a respected coach, that we all know and he behaved as he did on the touchline was not the best.

“To call me and insult me doesn’t look professional. What he did was uncalled for; we are all playing professional football and you have to know how to talk to players. Whether you’re a coach or not. The way he did wasn’t fair,” h noted.

Eric Bekoe apologized to Kotoko fans for reacting angrily on the pitch.

Duncan Hopes Win Over Hasaacas Ends Woeful Run

Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, David Duncan hopes Friday night’s victory over Hasaacas would be the end of their poor run in the league.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended their fruitless start to the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season against Hasaacas on Friday — beating the Takoradi-based club 1-0.

There was enormous pressure on the team to produce results having played so well in pre-season. David Duncan admits they thought they were on the right track until Injuries curtailed their plans.

“We thought that we were about to roll and over sudden we suffered this kind of setbacks and we had to build completely again,” the former Hearts of Oak boss told super sports after the game.

“Because five days to the game we started suffering injuries and even in the opening match against WAFA, we suffered another setback with a couple of players suffering all kinds of injuries.

“We had to restart all over again and I think that took a toll on us to record such results,” he noted.

After Kotoko’s 2-0 against Berekum Chelsea, Duncan said two points in four matches was not the worst start in the history of the Porcupine Warriors.

He alleged last season under Masa-ud Didi Dramani was worst. He reiterated the results recorded since the start of the season were not as poor as it is been reported.

“It was not bad results per se but judging by Kotoko’s high standards, you consider that to be poor.

“It is early days yet, but I’m most happy that we won this one (against Hasaacas). Maybe the corner has been turned and we see what happens in subsequent games,” he said.
