GPL Day 4 Team Of The Week

The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League pre-season champions, Asante Kotoko’s miserable season continued as they dropped into relegation zone, whilst Hearts of Oak ‘sushi-ed’ above Wa All Stars to occupy the top spot.

Whilst Ashanti Gold managed to salvage a point against Hasaacas in dramatic style as they continue to look for last season’s form that won them the title.

Seven matches ( Medeama – Dwarfs postponed due to Medeama’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup) across the country produced quality football and many players stood out for their teams.

Sports crusader satellite monitored around the league centers presents the best players of the weekend.

Frank Boateng (T. City) – Frank Boateng pulled off fantastic saves against Liberty Professionals even Manuel Neuer — regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world would have struggled to avoid the ball from hitting the back of his net. The finger tips, the flying palm — the stops were just unimaginable.

Godfred Saka (Aduana) – Regained his captain arm band and struck the only goal, his sides first goal of the season against WAFA at the Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday. His usual right flank control  was at its apex.

Robin Gnagne (Hearts) – The heartbeat of Accra Hearts of Oak. As stupendous as he has always been, the Ivorian manned the back line of Kenichi’s team with aplomb. His brick was finally broken though by John Nyamekye having kept three clean sheets in succession.

Richard Adjei (B. Chelsea) – Richard Adjei made Kotoko’s Obed Owusu a spectator ion all afternoon, twisting the fingers of David Duncan to replace him with the promising Dauda Mohammed.

Abdul Bashiru (Dreams FC) – Tenacity, hard work, needle point crossing and pace are the benchmark of Abdul Bashiru. If you think Baba Rahman is Ghana’s best left back, wait till you set your eyes on Abdul Bashiru.

Nuhu Alhassan (AshGold) – The wall of AshGold, the obstructor of opposition, and the driller of the Miners gold. His vision and understanding of the game is second to none.

Isaac Twum (Inter Allies) – Before the thunder strikes, Isaac Twum is the lightening that precedes it. A master art of the turf, he is the bulldozer that knows no boundaries.

Latif Blessing (Liberty) – On his day, Latif Blessing is the best player in the country, trickery, work rate, dribbling, pace, jump… He rose above players he stood in the ampits to nod home thumping header to earn Liberty all three points.

Richard Arthur (Wa All Stars) – The Lion of Wa. The elephant of the grass, the king if intelligence.

Samuel Yeboah (Hearts) – Form is temporal, class is permanent.  Samuel Yeboah is providing to be the Phobians silent assassin.

Saddick Adams (B. Chelsea) – He accompany his swagger off the pitch with goals on it. Three goals in four games. Good numbers for the former Black Starlet.

Subs:

Ernest Edu (GK) (Bechem United)

Akwasi Acheampong (Bechem United)

Hafiz Ahmed (Wa All Stars)

Ben Nash Quansah (Dreams FC)

Kadri Mohammed (AshGold)

Gerald Arkson (Liberty)

Eric Bekoe (Hasaacas)

Coach: Kenichi Yatsuhashi

We Will Beat Hasaacas - SamuelTetteh

West Africa Football Academy winger, Samuel Tetteh is optimistic Sekondi Hasaacas will leave Sogakope empty-handed when the two sides meet I n match week three of the Ghana Premier league.

WAFA began their season in a brighter note, beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-0 at the Sogakope Stadium courtesy of Charles Boateng and Samuel Tetteh’s goals, but suffered a setback at the Golden City park last weekend.

And with their strength at the Sogakope Park being the springing board to last season’s success story, Samuel Tetteh is certain victory will not elude them on Sunday.

“We are playing home so the confidence is there to grab all points available. We will beat them,” Samuel Tetteh said in an interview Takoradi-based radio station, Silver and quoted by footy-Ghana.com

“We believe we can do it and will try to execute our strategy to perfection,” he said.

WAFA are currently third on the GPL league log after two games.
