Vincent Atingah - My Job Was To Silence Yahaya Mohammed

Accra Hearts of Oak defender Vincent Atingah says his job was to keep the impressive Yahaya Mohammed quiet in the top-of-the-table clash between Aduana Stars and Hearts.

Hearts earned a valuable point at the home of Aduana Stars in match-day 13 action of the Ghana Premier League (GPL0 to maintain their lead at the top.

Emmanuel Akuoko put Aduana Stars in the lead before Cosmos Dauda cancelled out the goal but it was left with the Hearts defense to hold on to a point against the second-placed home side.

They managed to do just that and also kept leading league scorer Yahaya Mohammed quiet throughout the game.

Atingah, who had a good game marking Yahaya Mohammed out of the game, admits he played to the technical instruction of the head coach.

“We all have jobs to do on the field of play and mine was to mark Yahaya Mohammed,” Atingah told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.

“It was not an easy task because Yahaya is a good striker but we were happy to keep him quiet throughout the game.

“We were not really happy with the goal we conceded but we had to dig deep and come back. At the end, we got what we deserved which is a valuable point that has helped us maintain our position at the top.

“We could have easily given up when we conceded the goal because things were not really going on for us, but the coach spoke to us at half-time, pointed out some of the mistakes we were committing and that was exactly what we relied in the second half.”
