Zamalek Parts Way With Alex Mcleish

Egypt Premier league side Zamalek have parted ways with Alex Mcleish after just 10 matches in charge.

The British trainer joined Zamalek from Belgian side Gent but has mutually terminated his contract with the North Africans less than three months into the deal.

The former Aston Villa and Birmingham City trainer failed to overhaul a three point deficit on the domestic championship at the time of taking over which has since widened to 11.

The celebrated trainer becomes the third managerial casualty at the dug out of the EPL side this season after Ahmed Mido and Marcos Pacquita at the start of the campaign.

Mcleash managed six wins and two defeats in his 10 official matches as a Zamalek boss including a place in the money zone of the CAF Champions League.

The Brit’s defensive record of five goals allowed in his 10 matches looks impressive but his 60, 000 USD monthly salary deserves more than a second fiddle role to feared nemesis Al Ahly.

CAF Champions League: Zesco United Too Strong For Stade Malien, TP Mazembe Fall In Morocco

The first leg matches of the second round of the 2015/2016 CAF Champions League were played today across the continent, with some interesting results produced.

The biggest surprise of the weekend happened in the Malian capital Bamako where Stade Malien were thumped by Zambian side Zesco United 3-1.

Elsewhere in Casablanca, Abdellatif Noussir and Reda El Hajhouj were bothe on target as TP Mazebe were beaten by Wydad Athletic Club.

The Congolese side will now have an uphill task to overturn the North African side’s 2-goal advantage in the return leg in Lubumbashi.

In the other games on Saturday, Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosa saw off Al-Ahly Tripoli from Libya by – goals to nil in Abidjan with Sudanese outfit, Al-Mareikh sharing the spoils against ES Setif in a 4-goal thriller.

Egyptian side Al-Ahly were also held to a 1-1 draw away at Young Africans while Zamalek saw off OM Bejaia 2-0 in Cairo.

Torric Jibril cools off Zamalek interest as he targets European Football.

Former Hearts of Oak’s attacking prodigy Torric Jibril has cooled off Zamalek interest with his eyes firmly fixed on a return to European football.

The Ismaily forward has been an instant hit for the Egyptian giants and despite the appointment of his former coach as the new Zamalek head coach prefers to get back to Europe.

The trickery Ghanaian stormed out of the blocks in his days at Accra Hearts before joining the player exodus bus.

The former Pompey attacker was rescued from his Turkish nightmare by Ahmed Mido who brought him to Ismaily at the start of the domestic season.

Torric has however allayed any fears of crossing carpet on the domestic top flight as he eyes an immediate return to Europe.

The nimble footed Ghanaian has been very inspirational for Ismaily even in the absence of the man who brought him to the North African side.

On the purported interest from Zamalek, the former Hearts of Oak’s attacker acknowledged the importance of getting recognised by a big club like Zamalek but preferred European football instead.

“I feel happy because I really worked hard for that. Zamalek is a big club but now my focus is to work harder and return to Europe”.

Ismaily could move top in Egypt if they are able to win their two outstanding matches after 12 rounds of the league matches.

Ghanaian duo of Torric Jibril and Emmanuel Banahene has been very instrumental to the course of the North African giants.
