Palm Sunday ||Poem ||Kay Hoffman

During Jesus’s earthly ministry, He often told people not to tell anyone who He was. Even when his brothers encouraged Him to go public. He said it was not yet the right time. But the day He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey was the appointed time, the only public announcement that He was God’s promised Messiah, fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9.9. His announcement was rejected by many, yet God’s plan was fulfilled, as the following poem by Kay Hoffman clearly states.

They waved palm branches as He passed

And hailed Him as their King;

Yet, they knew not of the sorrow

The coming week would bring.

The glad acclaim would soon give way

To jeers and mockery;

In Pilate’s court He’d be condemned

To a cross on Calvary.

But Jesus knew He was the price

In God’s redemptive plan,

The Sacrificial Lamb come down

To die for sins of man.

The centuries have passed and still

He seeks those lost in sin,

Pleading with unyielding hearts

To repent and follow Him.

On this day we shout our praise,

O, let us not delay;

The palm-strewn path of long ago

Still leads to Him today.

To Be Like Christ || Poem || M.S Lowndes

Why fill our hearts and minds

With what doesn’t edify

And doesn’t help our spirits grow,

To be truly unified

What we believe in our minds,

We should believe in our hearts,

So we will speak with sincerity

What the word of God imparts

For as we meditate on it,

It will wash over our minds,

So our thinking will become Christ like,

Leaving worldly thoughts behind

For we can develop the mind of Christ

When on the Word, we feed,

But we need to move on from infant milk

To the solids that we need

It’s then our spirits can truly grow

And our minds can be transformed

To this world and its worldly ways,

We no longer are conformed

But we’re conformed to Jesus Christ

And we walk in step with Him

We desire Him above all else

And have His life within.

Finance || Poem || Mike Bullock

I’ve got all this money

I’m trying to save

I’m wanting a shed load

To take to the grave

I don’t want to worry

It’s peace that I crave

Insurance is what I desire.

They tell me the finances

Are pretty grim

Because we’re not tithing

They’re far from the brim

The vision is stalling

It’s looking quite dim

Why doesn’t God sort it out.

I’ve given you money

Possessions and wealth

To share with My people

To increase their health

So open your pockets

Start tithing with stealth

Test Me, and I will provide.
