The president of Medeama Sporting Club, Moses Parker has revealed the club spent $300,000 before reaching the group phase of the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup.
The 2015 MTN FA Cup champions dumped South African champions, Mamelodi Sundowns out of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 2-0 victory on Wednesday.
The road to a group stage berth was a daunting task but not unsurmountable, and Medeama SC duly invested to ensure the surmounted the task that was before them.
It began against Al Shendy, Al Ittihad and finally, against Mamelodi Sundowns. After the historic win, President of the club, Parker revealed that unleashed $ 300,000 to qualify for the continent’s second-tier inter-club football competition.
“We played three matches, and the three games we played before we qualified for the group phase, we spent $300,000,” Parker told Asempa FM.
“We paid for our own travelling tickets, we took care of our hotel bills so you should expect more money will be spent but the most important thing is we have qualified for the money zone,” he added.
