Didi Dramani Confident Ghana Will Progress

Mas-Ud Didi Dramani coach of Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Satellites is confident they can progress to the African Youth Championship (AYC) next year despite their heavy loss to Senegal in Dakar last Saturday.

The Satellites lost 1-3 to their Senegalese counterparts in the first leg final qualifying round to the 2017 AYC in Zambia.

However, Didi Dramani believes his charges can overturn the first leg result and qualify to the event in Zambia next year.

The return encounter is expected to be played at the newly constructed Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, 22 July with Ghana needing to win by two unanswered goals to advance.

“We played a tight game and both teams had their chances”, Dramani said after the game in Dakar, insisting that the difference in last Saturday’s game between the two was that Senegal converted the chances that came their way while Ghana didn’t.

“Nevertheless, we scored a goal that will have its weight in gold in the second leg”, he said, adding that the party is far from lost.

“We know more about the opponent and the preparation and approach will not be the same. When we arrived in Dakar, we had only scraps of information about their strengths and weaknesses. Now this is no longer the case and we will see another match in the return leg”, he said.

Ghana will be hoping to join six other countries that will emerge after the return legs next week to join host Zambia for the event early next year where the top four teams will qualify to the FIFA World Cup in South Korea later that year.
