Salford Women’s FA Cup: Immigration Ladies Target Ultimate

With the National Women’s League Trophy fat beyond their reach, Head Coach of Immigration Ladies, Joseph Baja has revealed that his team are now focused on lifting the maiden edition of the Salford Women’s FA Cup.

With just 3 games to go in the regular season, the Ladies from the Ghana Immigration Service are still fighting for to maintain their top flight status.

The Accra based side are currently lying 7th on the Southern Sector table with 8 points, 3 bove bottom side Halifax Ladies.

In contrast, Immigration Ladies have had a good start in the Salford Women’s FA Cup which kicked off last month, recording a 1-0 victory over Bafana Ladies which has propelled them into the Round of 16 where they will face three times League champions Hasaacas Ladies.

But despite their poor form in the league, head coach of Immigration Ladies, Joseph Baja believes his girls can dispatch Hasaacas and go on to win the Trophy.

“My target for the Fa Cup is to carry the trophy as our performance in the league is not encouraging”,  he said in an interview, adding that, “Right now, we have to fight our way out of relegation in the league. But for the Fa Cup, if we put in a little more effort, we can take it.”

The Round of 16 of the Salford Women’s FA Cup will take place this weekend and Immigration are set to travel to the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi to negotiate their game with Hasaacas on Sunday  July 23.
