National Women’s League Week 3 Wrap-up (Southern Sector)

Defending Champions Hasaacas Ladies continued their dominance in the National Women’s League with a 3-1 win over Immigration Ladies in Sekondi over the weekend.


A brace from Rafia Alhassan and a third goal by Veronica Appiah ensured that the Ladies from the west are yet take control of their Sector. Patience Narh got the consolation goal for Immigration.


Elsewhere at the Police Training School in Accra, a Josephine Boateng’s brace ensured that the Police Ladies recorded a hard fought 2-1 win over Samaria Ladies.


Faustina Worwornyo also scored a brace as Halifax Ladies overcame Lady Strikers 2-1. Faustina Kyereneh scored for The Strikers.


Newly Promoted Bafana Ladies continued with their unbeaten start to life in the women’s top flight although they are yet to record a victory.


They played out a 1-1 draw with Soccer Intellectuals at the Dr. Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.


Bridget Adu was on the score sheet for Bafana and Soccer Intellectuals equalized through Adiza Mustapha.

National Women’s League Week 3 Wrap-up (Southern Sector)

National Women’s League Week 3 Wrap-up (Northern Sector)

After winning their first two matches in the National Women’s League in impressive fashion, Ampem Darkoa Ladies were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly fancied Lepo Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park on Sunday afternoon.


Fatima Adjei put the home side into the lead before Georgina Aoyem equalized for Lepo Ladies late into the game.


The dropped draw for Ampem Darkoa means Prisons Ladies are now top of the Northern Sector table after recording a 3-1 victory away at Real Upper Ladies.


Abigail Tutuwa, Sylvia Amankwah and Grace Asare were all on target for Prisons with Abubakaria Afisatu scoring a consolation for the Bolga Tanga side.







Elsewhere in Kumasi, Ashtown Ladies got the better of Fabulous Ladies in a keenly contested Ashanti Regional derby by a lone goal scored by Helena Obeng.


Northern Ladies recorded the biggest victory of the weekend, thumping bottom placed Subayo Golden Ladies 5-1 at the Tamale Stadium.


Mukarama Abdullai scored a treble with Rahama Alhassan and Rahama Jafaru also getting their names on the score sheet.

Women"s League To Commence On March 19




The Ghana Football Association has announced that the 2015/2016 National Women’s League will commence on March 19.


The National Women’s ended on December 28, last year with Hasaacas Ladies winning for a historic third time after beating Ampem Darkoa Ladies by a lone goal in the Championship play-off in December.


And the new season will commence on March 19 at all zones  across the country.


The new season will be launched at the Ghana Football Association secretariat on Wednesday March 16.

Three teams from the Northern Zone (Chiewia Ladies, Northern Ladies FC, Subayo Ladies) and three from the Southern Zone (Halifax Ladies,Samaria Ladies,Bafana Ladies) qualified to join the National Women’s League this season after participating in the 2016 Zonal Women’s Championship.


Chiewia Ladies in particular, who will play the league as Real Upper Ladies, made history by becoming the first club from the Upper West Region to qualify for the National Women’s League.


Real Upper Ladies are based in Tumu.

The national women’s league is divided into two zones: Northern Zone and Southern Zone with each zone made of six teams who play a league format.


At the end of the season, the top teams from each zone will then play a one-off championship final to select the league champion.

Ampem Darkoah Ladies eyes history in Championship playoffs against Hasaacas Ladies

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will be looking to make history by beating Hasaacas Ladies on Sunday to clinch their first National Women’s League title.


Ampem Darkoa beat crack teams like Fabulous, Prisons and AshTown Ladies to emerge winners of the Northern Zone for a place in the championship playoff final against winners of the Southern Zone, Hasaacas Ladies who are also the defending champions.


The final, scheduled to be played at the Tema Sports Stadium had endured several postponements mainly due to the lack of resources and fixture clashes with international matches.


All is however now set for the final to come off on Sunday with kickoff set at 3pm local time.
