Week 26 and 27 of the ongoing Ghana Beach Soccer League has been postponed indefinitely due to the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA)’s inability to settle outstanding weekly allowances to match officials.
Discussions between the league organizers and the referees haven’t yielded any positive response resulting in the postponement of the league matches.
With barely 4 weeks left on the 2016 Beach Soccer league season, the association’s President Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has assured that the current forced postponement is not a crisis but a breather to reach a compromise with the referees before the climax of the season.
According to him, his hands are tied in the matter there was no other option than to agree to a postponement until the referees and GBSA reach a settlement on their fees.
The GBSA is currently operating on a sponsorship budget of 44,000 Ghana cedis a season from CAL Bank.
It is understood that the proposed new format of the Ghana Beach Soccer League (Greater Accra, Volta, Central and Western regions), which is expected to start next season would attract a significant increase of the amount and additional Co sponsors.
