Cape Coast Stadium To Open First Week Of May

The new Cape Coast Sports Stadium will be commissioned in the first week of next month.

The 15, 000 capacity edifice is part of Ghana’s ambition to expand sports and develop infrastructure across the country.

Handled by Chinese construction firm, IPPR International Engineering Corporation, following a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ghanaian and the Chinese governments, the project started in 2012 and it was handed over to government in January this year.

However, it is yet to be used officially for its purpose. It will be commissioned on either 3rd or 5th of May to increase the number of standard government stadia in the country.

Sportscrusader.com understands that a friendly match will be played at the stadium after the commissioning.

The stadium complex has a 22-room hostel facility, a canteen , kitchen , fire-fighting room, storage rooms among others.
