Get Behind Michael Osei - Saara Mensah

Kumasi Asante Kotoko legend, Saara Mensah has made a rallying cry to all major stake-holders of the club to get behind their stop-gap coach, Michael Osei as he attempts to bring back good fortunes to the Garden City.

Kotoko’s start to the season has been very disappointing and that has prompted the club’s management to ask head coach David Duncan to step aside from his position.

Asked if he thinks Michael Osei could succeed,  the ex Black Stars goal-poacher said “Why not…firstly, supporters must be patient and more importantly he [Michael] need to work extra hard to justify the confidence reposed in him by the management”.

Saara Mensah expects the coach remain competitive in the Ghana Premier League even thought his former team mate faces a “tough environment”.

“The environment has not changed, expectations are high so it would be just tough for him….but I trust he would succeed,” said the burly striker.

It might be premature to suggest that Kotoko have turned the corner but they go into Wednesday’s away game against Dreams FC with a weight lifted from their shoulders.

The celebration that greeted their win over Liberty Professionals in their last league game at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, spoke volumes for the relief around Oseikrom.

Saara Mensah believes Kotoko can confront their next game with full confidence taking into consideration the fact that Michael Osei has been responsible for their recent decent string of good results.
