National Women’s League Week 1 Review: Ampem Darkoa Thrash Subayo As Hasaacas Down Strikers

Fixtures for the first week of the Ghana National Women’s League were honoured over the weekend across the length and breadth of the country and with some interesting results produced.


In the Northern zone, Ampem Darkoa ladies recorded the biggest score line of the weekend, thrashing newly promoted Subayo Golden Ladies 7-1 with Black Queens midfielder Priscilla Adobea scoring six goals.


Elsewhere in the Northern Zone, Fairuza Nuhu’s lone strike wasn’t enough to earn Lepo Ladies any point as Cynthia Adobea and Rita Okyere scored to hand Prisons Ladies a vital away victory.


The other game in the Zone saw Upper Ladies also losing at home to Kumasi based AshTown Ladies by 2 goals to 1 while Latifa Suleiman’s loan goal ensured that Northern Ladies were home victors of Fabulous Ladies.


In the Southern Zone, Hasaacas Ladies began the defence of their title with a 4-0 victory over Lady Strikers. Lily Lawrence, Veronica Appiah, Samira Appiah and Ama Appiah were all on target.


Police Ladies drew Goal-less at home to Soccer Interlectuals whiles Salomey Kotei’s brace hand all three points to immigrations Ladies, who won 2-1 away at Halifax.


In the final game of the weekend, Bafana Ladies failed to win their first topflight game after drawing 1-1 with Samaria Ladies at the Dr. Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina.
