My Allegiance Is To Medeama – Tom Strands
Head coach of Medeama SC, Tom Strand, says officials of the Tarkwa – based club, tested his loyalty when they gave him the opportunity to open negotiations with Hearts of Oak.
The 34-year-old became a target for the Phobians in their quest to replace Herbert Addo, who was sacked last season for non-performance.
Despite having one year left in his two-year deal with the Yellow and Mauves, Strand opted to stop the talks in order to see out his contract, prompting Hearts to appoint Japanese-American Kenichi Yastuhashi as new coach.
“I felt my commitment was being tested a little by Medeama. “But I’m a man of my words so if you keep your words, I’ll keep mine, they know that. I’ve decided to continue my stay with Medeama and I like it very much. They’ve taken care of me and I want to give something back to them,” he added.
Strand joined Medeama from Bechem United, whom he led from relegation battle to finish fifth in the 2013/14 season.
